Since his first play, singing the solo “Germs, My Invisible Dog,” at the age of 5, Steve has been blessed to have been singing in school, in church, or performing in plays or musicals for the entertainment of others.
In his late teen years, while attending Penn State University in the mid 90’s, Steven auditioned for and landed a spot with a soul and R&B group by the name of “The Last Knights.” During that time, while covering the songs of other artists, the group also performed their own music in the greater Philadelphia & tri-state area; opening up for acts such as Brownstone (MJJ Records) & Tyree (Independent Hustler Records).
After moving to CT about a decade later, Steve was blessed to be a founding member of a 5 man gospel group, called “(The Men of) INTERCESSION” out of Springfield, MA. The group performed in MA, CT, NY, and Philadelphia, opening for such artists as: JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Deon Kipping, and The Joy Unlimited Mass Choir. However, several years after the group all went their separate ways, Steve still had a hunger to sing and perform for others.
The opportunity came in a big way in the early 2000’s, when Steve landed with the live 9 piece “Motown show” band: Soul Sound Revue. As one of the band’s 3 lead singers, Steve has been able to travel all over the country performing the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and current hit tunes for all types of events!
Stepping out on his own, Steve’s goal is to bring a soulful and high energy performance to every audience that he is in front of. SKJ’s “Experiment,” is an enthusiastic new spark in live band entertainment with a style and an experience for others that allows you to reminisce of the days of old, while singing along with and dancing it away – creating new memories for years to come.
